Dear World, 2022

In partnership with Commercial Group

I was responsible for the creation of 6 endangered animal costumes, set building, planning the activities of the day and collaborating with set dresser Sophia Wilcox. Each creative component was made using either recycled or biodegradable materials.

Prior to the event, the children were asked to follow the creative task set out in the book, to make a costume and a sign about their favourite endangered animal using only things they could find in the house. They also wrote letters to the world and drew on recycled fabric flags ready to be hung at the event.

The day's activities included:

  • a book reading amongst the trees

  •  a pooh stick race

  • making an Animal Allie flag on recycled fabric

  • an egg hunt

  • a forest feast

  • collecting tree and leaf rubbings

  • hanging the children's Dear World letters as prayer flags

  • playing on the Animal Allie raft

  • dressing up in their bespoke endangered animal costumes

Dear World was an event that took place at Parnham park to mark the launch of Goliath the Golden Toad and Commercial Group's artist residency program. We hosted 80 employees and their children for a day that was designed to empower the children of Commercial and get them excited about local nature and protecting the planet’s biodiversity.
